Artist's Statement
“I was raised in the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire countryside, where my love for nature and birding took root early. After studying at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and leading theater and literature at Wellington College in England, I crossed the Atlantic in my 30s. Here in the States, I continued my career as an English department chair and theater director while continuing my passion for nature and birding, experiencing the varied beauty of this vast country.
Today, as a collage artist, I weave together my passions for literature, theater, and the natural world. Collage allows me to explore the spaces between those fascinating margins where unexpected connections and fresh perspectives emerge. This visual art form affords me almost limitless opportunities to create. Through layering familiar images in surprising ways, I invite viewers to reimagine the stories we think we know and imagine new ways of seeing things hidden in plain sight.”
